Louis E. Watkins, a Montgomery County native and resident of Crawfordsville in the past year, who had spent 50 years of his life in Alaska died here Monday afternoon. Mr. Watkins passed away at Culver Hospital at 12:45 p.m. In the past year he had made his home with his brother and a sister at 820 S. Washington St. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Alaska. Mr. Watkins was born Nov. 30, 1876 and was the son of Joseph M. and Marsha Bailey Watkins. He was married in 1900 to Anna Douglas who died several years ago. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Anna Deatch of Veedersburg; one brother, Roscoe B. of Crawfordsville; five sisters, Clay C. Watkins, Crawfordsville; Grace W., Chicago, Mrs. Ethel Gott, Crawfordsville, Mrs. Ivan Zaring, Salem and Mrs. Hazel Dickeron, Ladoga. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hunt and Son Funeral Hoe with Dr. Ralph W. Graham officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Tuesday. - kz
